Would you like to get involved?
DFK offer support to local communities by working with local partners and local community leaders to help Keighley become a more dementia friendly community. DFK have also been successful in applying for funds and delivering projects in the local community.
This page provides a summary of the projects and if you would like to find out more, contact DFK on 01535 602529 or email us: email@example.com.
Videos launched in Pothwari – understanding dementia
“Communities from ethnic heritage are more likely to experience a lack of understanding from family, relatives or the wider community about dementia and its impact”. says Maria.
“I’ve made this series of short videos because, within our ethnic community, if we have problems/concerns around our memory or we become forgetful we do not tend to access support services such as the GP.”
The videos focus on recognising what dementia is; common signs of dementia; seeing support and getting in touch.

Dementia Friendly Keighley have been working with Catholic Care on a project called Embrace to offer age specific dementia awareness sessions to local primary and secondary schools. The sessions were enjoyable and interactive with the children understanding the concept of supporting older people in their families. Click on this link for further information ↓
The project also made a Making Memories film and this can be viewed by clicking here:
