Dementia Friendly Keighley is a voluntary organisation and is supported by invaluable volunteers. We are currently looking for more volunteers, to enable us to provide and expand our range of much needed services, to people living with dementia, as well as their carers.
Our volunteers provide a range of support in the local area and give up their time from a few hours a month to a few hours a week or at a one-off event. Could you spare some time to help?
To support the Dementia Friendly Keighley projects you do not need to have a full understanding of dementia or have experience of someone living with dementia. But you may have other skills that would support the roles such as:
- Administration and Office duties
- Enjoyment in talking and listening to people
- Supporting the drop-in sessions
- Assisting with creative and activity sessions
Anyone who volunteers will be invited to attend a Dementia Friends Session and may be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
Time to Take Aire’ Befriending Service
We’re also looking for volunteers to be part of our ‘Time to Take Aire’ befriending service.
Befriending volunteers will help us provide company and conversation to those who are housebound or have limited mobility who might feel isolated and lonely and would benefit from mental stimulation.
Volunteer StoriesDementia Friendly Keighley Volunteers have provided short stories to share why they got involved, what they get out of offering support and what their roles involves. Click below to meet our volunteers and read their story, you never know it be something you would like to do!! Dementia Friendly Keighley would like to thank their volunteers for their time and contribution to the success of their projects.
