This Christmas, Dementia Friendly Keighley are working with local communities to try and get Christmas meals to those who otherwise may not have one, due to living alone or isolating on COVID guidance.

One caring family have offered to prepare up to 30 meals, on behalf of a relative who was widely known and loved in Keighley.
Bev Brown said, “My family and I thought it would be really nice to be able to offer help on behalf of my dad, Michael Horton, who ran a number of pubs in Keighley over a 30 year period.”

Bev continued “My husband, Stephen, our son Tom and his girlfriend, Gee Harrison are happy to give up a fraction of our family time on Christmas day to help this great cause. Like all families having a relative that is living with Dementia, it’s heartbreaking to go through, especially when there’s little you can do about it, so this is something that is very close to our hearts.”

The response to this campaign so far has been amazing, and we’re still looking for people to help by giving up a small amount of their time to plate up an extra meal for a neighbour. If you’d like to get involved, please email christmas@dementiafriendlykeighley.org.uk
