About Roshni Ghar

Roshni Ghar is an established (1999) Mental health and community development charity based in the Keighley area of West Yorkshire. Roshni Ghar is the only service in Keighley which provides culturally appropriate and responsive mental health and wellbeing help and support services to adult South Asian women, reaching and engaging 300+ underrepresented and marginalised BME women (predominately adult South Asian) experiencing multiple deprivation and disadvantaged due to mental illness, distress and stigma, or who are vulnerable to developing mental health problems in Keighley.

    Summary of Tasks

    To review working practices to ensure they are inclusive of people living with dementia

    Staff and volunteers to attend Dementia Friends Sessions, including new staff

    To provide a designated quiet space for people living with dementia should they require 1:1 support

    Support our own staff and volunteers who may have memory problems

    Hold a Dementia Awareness Event for your service users and families.

    Support DFK with delivering sessions in local community languages e.g. Urdu, Punjabi and Bangla

    Set up a support group for carers of people living with dementia

    Set up a support group for South Asian women living with dementia
