Dementia Friendly Keighley are looking for volunteers, to enable them to provide and expand their much needed services to help people living with dementia, as well as the people that care for them.

The roles available will cover a wide range of services, from activity groups to general office admin, and the soon to be launched befriending and respite service ‘Time to Take; Aire’, which aims to support those that are either housebound or have limited mobility, by offering reminiscence sessions involving sight, touch, taste, smell and sound to evoke memories.

Volunteers can expect to gain hands-on experience, as well as be offered free training such as first aid, dementia friends courses, and more, should they be required.

Julie Lintern, Manager of DFK said “COVID has a profound impact on us all, we all experienced the feeling of isolation and loneliness and being cut off from the world, I like others are pleased to feel that each day we are getting closer to normality, unfortunately though, for some, isolation, loneliness and feeling unsupported are normality for some. We would really welcome those who felt moved to support others.”
